The Danish Association of Insurance Law

The association was established on 19 December 1977 by jurists with particular interest in aspects related to insurance. The Danish Association of Insurance Law is the Danish chapter of AIDA.

The association has more than 400 members, including both individual members and corporate members.

The purpose of the association is:

• to be the Danish section of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA – www.aida.org.uk)
• to function as a promoter of insurance law
• to promote the common understanding between insurance lawyers
• to release publications related to insurance.

In collaboration with AIDA Europe the association arranges regional European conferences and the world organization, AIDA, arranges a World Congress every 4th year.

Every year the association organizes events for the members where questions related to insurance are debated.

Some examples of topics: "Disruption in the insurance industry - how new business models are challenging classic insurance types", "Rules on good business practice, including product monitoring and training requirements" and "The boundary between due process and law enforcement in connection with private individuals' investigations".

The association also contributes to Scandinavian Insurance Quarterly that is published in cooperation with the insurance societies in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Since 1921, four annual issues of the journal have been published.

Any Master or Bachelor of Laws and Master or Bachelor of Commerce and Commercial Law may be admitted as individual Member. Further any law student or student of commerce and commercial law entitled to a bachelor degree may be admitted. At the discretion of the Executive Committee other applicants who qualify themselves within insurance law may become members.

Insurance companies, general agencies and insurance brokers as well as public authorities, institutions and organizations interested in insurance matters may be admitted as Company Members.
